Artist Residency at George Pegg Botanic Garden
Inaugural Artist-in-Residence at the George Pegg Botanic Garden, 2026. Botanic gardens are evolving sites of biodiversity conservation, ecological memory, and cultural interpretation, making them uniquely relevant spaces for contemporary artistic inquiry. This is particularly opportune within rapidly changing prairie and parkland ecosystems in Alberta. The George Pegg Botanic Garden is a designated provincial historic resource and protected site. George Pegg was a naturalist of west-central Alberta, making important contributions to local natural history. This residency focus is on research-creation, with community interactions forming an important part of the project, through on-site exhibitions, tours, and demonstrations.
