Artist Residency at École Meridian Heights
One-month-plus-long project as artist in residence at a K-9 school in Stony Plain, Alberta. I introduced printmaking and collaborative art to the entire school community of almost 600 students through individual class instruction, collaborative art-making, open studio sessions, and drop-in lunchtime art club. I asked each student to donate a proof to me to work with to make collages and artist books, and plan to exhibit some of these works locally for the community to see outside of the school.
Funding was provided by Alberta Foundation for the Arts: the Artist and Education funding supports Alberta schools by subsidizing fees of professional Alberta artists of any artistic discipline that provide interactive arts residency projects for grades K-12. I used artist fees as compensation and to purchase the many supplies I needed to carry out the project. I also provided the required matching support through in-kind time and materials.
